Some call them Fair Isle jumpers, some call them Christmas jumpers, either way, the Nordic knit is a key staple this Autumn / Winter. Whowhatwhere calls them the “nerdy knit” and explains how the “ugly jumper” is having a fashion moment. They’re a great addition to a maternity wardrobe too and here’s why…
If you’re expecting this time of year, then a big chunky knit is ideal maternity wear, it’s comfortable on the bump, no tight fabrics and no worrying about maternity bra straps. All you need to do is find a great pair of maternity jeans or leather look trousers, throw on some chunky boots and you’re good to go. They’re also good for concealing little bumps too, go for a distinctive pattern round the shoulders which will draw (other peoples) eyes up and away from your tummy. And a simple tuck into the front of your jeans will hide even the most eager of baby bumps.
People often think a round neck jumper isn’t an option when breastfeeding, however if you opt for an oversize style, and wear over a nursing cami, you can just whip the jumper up, pull the vest down and plug the baby on!
Below is a round up of the best maternity and non-maternity Nordic knits on the high street…just click on the image for more details…Keep an eye out for the last one which is a breast feeding friendly option, it’s a nursing jumper so has clever little flaps to stow a baby under whilst breast feeding…
