Welcome to a new regular section on the blog called The Friday Five. It’s a bite size feature where every Friday we pick ‘5 of the best…’. The idea is to save time for you doing masses of research, introduce you to brands you may not yet know about and also highlight the products that stand out for their style as well as usefulness.

This week we’ve gone all practical and picked (aside from your coffee machine) possibly the most used item you will ever own; the changing bag.

There’s obviously a gazillion bags to chose from but finding a cool, fashion forward one is less easy. However these days, you don’t have to suffer on practicality just to have a good bag; gone are the days of leaking bottles in a bog standard bag.

So, here is the first of The Friday Five, just for you…

[Clockwise from top left]
  1. THE KAOS RANSEL £149 This Norwegian design is a great unisex bag so there’s no chance of Dad feeling awkward as he carries a flowery tote to the toilets. With 8 pockets there’s a whole fest of organising to be had. And the best bit? The do a mini version called the Mini Ransel so your little one and you can be twinnies!
  2. THE GREY WHITE AMBER £230 Made from 100% calves leather this is the Rolls Royce of changing bags. With five pockets and two exterior slip pockets including a hidden Iphone pocket (hidden from little paws), everything has its place. My favourite feature? A leather tag which can be monogrammed for the ultimate fashion finish.
  3. Grab & Go Mini Clutch £69.99 This little piece of arm candy is such a good idea. You don’t always want to take a huge bag out with 20 spare nappies, 5 changes of clothing and umpteen other random items to cater for unpredictable small person scenarios. This fits all the essentials in one compact cute clutch. Job done.
  4. The Elwood £120 This timeless backpack is at the top of the cool charts. It’s another great unisex style and the backpack style gives you two arms free for practicing those all important wrestling moves on a wriggling toddler. It has a insulated bottle holder, internal laptop section and a padded lower back panel which, let’s be honest, everyone can do with. Nicely done Tiba + Marl.
  5. PacaPod Hastings £69 This is a clever little backpack, its basically split into sections or ‘pods’ of an insulated feeder pod (holds 4 bottles and keeps the contents warm for up to 3 hours) A changing pod and a parent pod which has a mobile holder and a key clip you’re bound to avoid those rummaging in the bottom of a  bag at the front door with a baby crying moments. The 3-in-1 system makes this bag an organisers dream.
